CHARACTER
Character Name: Tigerstar
Age: 65 moons / 5.4 years
Species: Domestic cat
Canon: Warriors (or Warrior Cats)
Canon Point: The Darkest Hour, after forming TigerClan
Character Info: Wiki
Personality: Tigerstar's most notorious defining characteristics are his pride, ambition, and cruelty. As a leader and a mentor, he's very harsh and rarely does things half-way; his answer to many things that get in his way is to kill. He rarely takes no for an answer, but when he is forced to he often quickly seeks out ways to circumvent whatever obstacle has been dropped in front of him. He's a very clever and charismatic cat with a strong, commanding voice, though his silver tongue works best on those who, like him, are prone to ill intentions. When the going gets rough, you can count on Tigerstar to get tough - and murder is rarely not an option.

That said, despite being the main villain throughout much of the Warriors series, Tigerstar is still a noble cat with the heart of a warrior, as his source material often puts it. He's honorable and dedicated to the tasks set before him by those he respects as his superiors - after all, if Tigerstar were entirely evil and wicked, StarClan would not have granted him the -star suffix and nine lives with which to lead his Clan. He is coarse and can be very selfish, yes, but he's quite skilled at motivating large groups and keeping a level head even when the stakes are impossibly high. Before he was revealed to be evil, many of his fellows looked to him as a beacon of confidence and bravery, though given time it's easy to see that many of his positive traits have their roots in arrogance that he has rarely had to own up to on account of his physical prowess.

Even through all of his successes and machinations, however, it's somewhat rare for Tigerstar to ever achieve total success when pursuing his goals. When he assassinates Redtail in the first book to secure himself a position in the line of succession to ThunderClan leadership, Bluestar chooses another warrior, Lionheart, over him. When Tigerstar does find an opportunity to become leader, it is not over the Clan he set out to command. When Tigerstar sires kits, they are not of pure Clan blood. Even when he unites RiverClan and ShadowClan into TigerClan to dominate the forest, he is ultimately and fatally usurped by Scourge, the outsider he had recruited to strengthen his authority over the Clans. In the words of Goosefeather, Tigerstar should not have survived when he nearly lost his life as a kit. Even in death he is denied a place in the ranks of StarClan, and his plots to lead other outcast spirits in a war against StarClan are foiled time and time again as well. It may not be short-sighted to say that Tigerstar is a doomed cat who may never achieve complete success in the things he pursues.

Perhaps because of his ambition, frustrations with past failures, and anxieties about those that might come further down the road, Tigerstar is a very harsh mentor. The way he forces Ravenpaw to be an accomplice in Redtail's murder and pushes the timid cat past his emotional breaking point time and time again ultimately prove so brutal that Ravenpaw leaves the Clans entirely, fearing for his life. Even from the afterlife, he bullied his son, Hawkfrost, and molded him into a successor who ultimately died to the same mistakes as his father. It's fairly clear that Tigerstar views his students and offspring as tools to his own gains, rather than as individuals with their own futures and ambitions to attend to.

Overall, Tigerstar is dedicated, overzealous, and harsh - a capable leader, but not one anybody should ever readily trust with power. His greatest flaw is easily that he fails to learn from his mistakes, and often ignores his conscience and advice from others in times when he needs it most.
Abilities: He's a large cat with unusually long claws. Possesses nine lives, which are lost every time he sustains a single fatal injury (i.e, multiple fatal injuries can compound to take multiple lives, as happens to him in canon when Scourge bleeds him out and fatally injures multiple major organs to take all nine lives at once) or when combating a fatal sickness. Lives cannot be recovered, and he will only have one life if he's reborn after fully dying.

Note: Open to dropping the nine lives on the grounds that his connection to StarClan was severed when he entered the carnival.
